Gamma radiation in geology
The applications for these instruments range from geological mapping, Uranium and Thorium exploration and rock classification and radon risk assessment. In many countries, radon gas from the bedrock is a potential health hazard. New land development programs often require mapping of the risk for Radon gas emanation. Rock material used in building materials or concrete also needs to be checked for its natural radioactivity.
RDS is a leading supplier of state-of-the art radiation detection systems using advanced digital and spectral analysis technologies. These technologies provide a level of radiation detection previously only attainable in laboratory equipment. Older instruments need two hands and weigh often 4 – 5 kg. Today RDS can deliver the same or better accuracy in a small handheld only weighing 2 kg.
